Bishop Montgomery (CA) began their season on Monday against Cleveland (CA) and will try to improve on a stellar 2016-17 season. This year’s team is destined for a great year in this new season led by UCLA commit David Singleton III.

On Monday, Singleton finished with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in a 96-12 victory.

After finishing with a record of 31-2 and Bishop Montgomery was crowned champions of the CIF State Boys Basketball Championships – Open Division, after beating Woodcreek in the final by 74-67. To reach the final, the team reeled off wins against national powerhouses Chino Hills (87-80) and Mater Dei (60-53).

“I expect for myself to be the leader for this team and as a team, I expect we’ll play our heart out every game”, Singleton told D1Vision.

Singleton, a four-star shooting guard, averaged 17.4 points, 5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game last season. He will be the team’s top offensive weapon after losing Oregon State commit Ethan Thompson to graduation.

In addition to being the headliner of this Montgomery team, Singleton is already excited to play for the Bruins and show the fans his game.

“I’m very excited for my first year at UCLA and supporters can expect David Singleton III to play basketball.”

Singleton is part of a three-man recruiting class at UCLA, joined by Jules Bernard and Kenneth Nwuba.
