2018 Combo Guard David Duke to Commit Friday

David Duke, the 6-foot-3 combo guard from Providence (RI) Cushing Academy, will make his college decision on Friday, per his twitter account.

Duke, who is down to four schools, has taken official visits to Florida (Sept. 22), Virginia Tech (Sept. 29), and Providence (Oct. 6). Villanova is also included on Duke’s list. Duke spoke with D1VISION in July about each school:

Providence: “Coach [EdCooley is a great guy, who shows me that I’m their top recruit and he has a great record of developing his point guards to get them NBA ready.”

Virginia TechBuzz [Williams] has built Virginia Tech up by doing all the right things and he recruits players who play hard. I like their playing style and he also has told me that they’re on me hard as one of their top recruits.”

Florida: “I love how they play and I’ve built a relationship with their coaches. They have a good situation for me there. They see my potential and say they can develop me.”

Villanova: “They have me as a top recruit. They believe [JalenBrunson will be leaving which creates an opportunity for me.”

According to 247Sports, Duke is ranked as the No. 48 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of Rhode Island. He is also ranked as the No. 5 combo guard in the Class of 2018.

Playing with Mass Rivals on the adidas Gauntlet summer circuit, the rising four-star averaged 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in only 16.2 minutes per outing. That equates to 22.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 7.9 assists per 40. Duke’s teammate with Mass Rivals, AJ Reeves, committed to Providence in June.

In addition to Duke, 2018 forward Ryan Boyce will also be making his college decision on Friday.
