Five-Star Point Guard Darius Garland Sets Official Visit Dates

Brentwood Academy (TN) 6-foot-1 point guard Darius Garland has scheduled four of his five official visits, per ESPN.

Garland recently named his final six schools consisting of Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, UCLA and Vanderbilt.

Garland will visit Vanderbilt the weekend beginning Sept. 23, Kentucky Oct. 13, Indiana Oct. 20 and Duke Oct. 27. UCLA is expected to receive an official sometime in the fall.

Until recently, Garland had been considered a Duke lean, but the recent commitment of Tre Jones could be a hurdle the Blue Devils will have to overcome. Coach Mike Krzyzewski addressed with the five-star.

“Coach K said he wants both Tre Jones and I at Duke,” Garland recently told Rivals. “He thinks a lot of his guys will be gone next year, and he needs an intelligent class to come in pick up where they left off.”

“Tre and I like playing together and we feel comfortable with one another, especially after USA Basketball and knowing each other’s game over the years,” Garland went on to explain.

Garland is the No. 9 player nationally as compiled by the 247Sports industry-generated composite rankings. He is No. 3 at his position and the top prospect in Tennessee.

Vanderbilt — who currently holds the lead in the CrystalBall with 54% of the overall votes — conducted an in-home with Garland last Saturday. UCLA is scheduled for an in-home tonight.
