Daivien Williamson, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Winston-Salem (NC) Prep announced his commitment on Sunday to East Tennessee State, he told us at D1Vision.

“I felt very comfortable there, I like the coaching and their style of play fits me perfectly,” he told D1Vision. “Most importantly, my intended major is sports management and I can obtain my masters degree in that at East Tennessee State.”

Williamson announced his final four on October 5th including James Madison, Drexel, East Tennessee State, and Wofford on October 5th via Twitter. Williamson took official visits to Drexel (Sept.22) and James Madison (Sept. 30th). He also took unofficial visits to Wofford (Sept. 9th) and East Tennessee State (Oct. 7th).

Williamson will fit head coach Steve Forbes‘ fast pace style of play perfectly. Justin Byerly of Prep Hoops North Carolina on Williamson, “He is an effortless scorer and can fill it up in a hurry. In transition, he always makes the right pass for the easy basket or can take it to the rim on his own.”

Williamson caught up with us at D1Vision last month and had this to say about East Tennessee State, “Great coaching staff, love coach [Steve] Forbes. I felt very comfortable down there and watching them practice. I see they definitely fit my style of play. They want me to come in and play a big role on a very good team.”

Last season at Winston-Salem Prep Williamson averaged 17 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.
