High Point (NC) Wesleyan Christian Academy 2018 forward Ian Steere announced his commitment to the Creighton Bluejays on Thursday.

“First and foremost I want to thank God for allowing me to play this game at all,” Steere said in a release via Twitter. “I want to thank all my coaches that have pushed me to my limits to become the young man and player that I am today, especially Jeff McInnis and Kevin Gatlin.”

“I want to thank every single school that gave me the opportunity to be recruited and it was an honor to be a priority for so many great programs,” Steere continued. “Last but not least I want to thank my family for being there for me. Especially my father. With all that being said, after much thought and consideration, I want to announce my commitment to Creighton University!! Go Jays.”

Steere chose Creighton over the likes of Louisville, Kansas, UConn, Clemson, Maryland, NC State and Florida State, among others.

“It’s just the confidence they have in me,” Steere told Bluejays Today. “Coach Mac, he laid out a plan — and I really trust what they’re envisioning for me. I can’t say no to a school that’s going to make me a 100 percent priority.”

In ten games with Team Charlotte on the Under Armour circuit, Steere is averaging 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.

Steere joins rising wing Christian Bishop as the second Bluejays commit in the class of 2018.
