Colin Castleton, the 6-foot-11 stretch forward from Father Lopez (FL) Catholic High School, announced his commitment to Michigan on Wednesday in a video through the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

This Summer, Castleton was labeled as 2-star recruit, but by August, 247Sports moved him up to a four-star and the No. 111 ranking in the Class of 2018. Castleton told us at D1VISION why he committed to Michigan.

“Just everything honestly, it felt so good to be there and around all of the players. They made me feel like I was apart of the team and culture they have established there.”

Growing up, Castleton’s first love was actually baseball. He threw out his arm in the 7th grade, taking away his ability to play at a high level. Starting his freshman year of high school at 6’4″, Castelton decided to pick up a basketball. He has taken off with it ever since.

“It’s been a long journey, but the time has finally come, from being on JV freshman year to now having 30 Division-1 scholarships and being labeled a 4 star recruit,” said Castleton in a statement released via Twitter. “I want to thank Coach Miller and Coach Gordon from Father Lopez, being the best coaches I could ever ask for, never giving up on the kid who wasn’t even eligible his freshman year. You guys mean the world to me and I can’t thank you enough. I want to thank all of my AAU coaches.”

The last three years Castleton turned himself into a big-time stretch four displaying a high skill level. He has an abundance of potential with only playing the game of basketball seriously for the last three years.

Castleton joins the No. 1 player in the state, and No. 54 overall in the Class of 2018 per 247Sports, in 6-foot-8 forward Brandon JohnsIgnas Brazdeikis, the 6-foot-8 shooting guard from Orangeville (ON) Prep and the No. 91 overall for the class of 2018 per 247Sports, and 6-foot-5 shooting guard Adrien Nunez have also committed to Michigan.

Castleton, who had an in-home visit with Michigan last month, spoke with D1VISION about the Wolverines.
