Canada Basketball Releases 22 Player U19 Training Camp Roster

Canada Basketball released their 22 player 2017 U19 National Team Training Camp Roster on Tuesday. Tryouts will be conducted June 12-14 at the University of Toronto – Mississauga.

Team Canada will then select the final 12-player roster that will compete in the 2017 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in Cairo, Egypt from July 1st-9th. Canada is currently ranked third worldwide.

This years roster features the top player in the 2019 class R.J. Barrett as well as Kentucky bound point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, University of Oregon’s Abu Kigab and Iowa State incoming freshman Lindell Wigginton.

  • June 25: Canada vs Lithuania (Exhibition)
  • June 26: Canada vs Spain (Exhibition)
  • July 1: Canada vs Mali (FIBA World Cup)
  • July 2: Canada vs Spain (FIBA World Cup)
  • July 4: Canada vs Japan (FIBA World Cup)
  • July 5: Round of 16
  • July 7: Quarter-Finals
  • July 8: Semi-Finals
  • July 9: Finals

“We look forward to a competitive tryout and training session as we look to field the best team to face the world in Egypt,” Roy Rana, Head Coach, U19 Men’s National Team stated in a release.

Once the final twelve-player roster has been finalized, Team Canada will continue to workout until June 20 prior to traveling to France for exhibition play.
