Brandon Williams, the 5-foot-10 point guard from Crespi Carmelite (CA) High School, announced his commitment to Arizona on Tuesday via Twitter.

Williams, who took an unofficial visit to Arizona last year (Oct. 14), chose the Wildcats over Kansas, Gonzaga, UCLA, and USC.

“They’ve been there from the beginning, since eighth grade. They were the first school to recruit me,” Williams said of Arizona to ESPN. “The addition with [assistant] coach [Lorenzo] Romar only helped me out. They are starting to do a lot more ball screens, which fits my game. Also, my relationship with the coaching staff is great. That’s very important.”

Crespi Carmelite head coach Russell White had nothing but praise for the five-star Williams.

“He’s got a tremendous feel for the game,” coach White told SB Nation. “His ability to see the floor. His ability to put the ball in the hoop are elite for his level. He has a knack for making plays at the right time.”

“He’s played two seasons of high school and has walked away with two state championships,” continued White. “We’ve had three D-1 players come from his school DeAnthony Melton (USC), London Perrantes (Virginia), D.J. Ursery (Pacific), and Brandon could be the best of them all. He’s just a really good basketball player. He can score it, can pass it, (though he) will need to defend more at the next level, but that’s not abnormal.”

Williams becomes the second Arizona commit from the 2018 class joining four-star forward Shareef O’Neal, son of former NBA great Shaquille O’Neal. O’Neal committed to the Wildcats in mid-April in what most considered to be a surprise commit.

With the addition of Williams, Arizona jumps up to the second ranked class in the 247Sports Composite Class rankings, falling just below Arkansas who already has four commitments from the 2018 class.

Williams is the 20th ranked player and 7th ranked point guard in the 247Sports 2018 Composite Rankings.
