For La Lumiere (IN) five-star 2017 wing Brian Bowen, the urgency of a college decision is becoming apparent.

“It’s going to have to be soon, I know that for sure,” Bowen told Rivals Krysten Peek. “The deadline is starting to come up quick.”

Bowen is in California this weekend for the BallIsLife All-American game where he will play with most of the top talent in the 2017 class, including uncommitted five-stars Trevon Duval and Mo Bamba

Bowen is one of four remaining top 20 uncommitted players in the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings. That number will shrink by one on Saturday when Kevin Knox closes out his recruitment with an announcement via Twitter.

For Bowen, it may not be as clear as a final list. Creighton, Arizona, Michigan State, NC State and Texas has been the list he is working from, but according to Bowen, a couple of new names have emerged.

“Still talking to the same schools as of now,” Bowen said. “I’ve talked to Oregon a little bit as well and Florida State a little bit as well.”

“I’m just weighing my options right now,” Bowen continued. “At this point, it’s all about me picking a school. Every school has given me their best pitch. It’s just when I want to make my decision.”

Asked if he was surprised by the return of Michigan State freshman sensation Miles Bridges.

“I kind of expected it, but was a little bit surprised at the same time,” Bowen said. “I looked at some of the poles, he was top 10 and everything, so it caught me off guard a little bit.”

The return of Bridges could have an impact on Bowen’s eventual decision.

“Yes, you’re looking at that as well,” Bowen stated. “Really I’m just, wherever I feel is the best fit for me, no matter if the guys are coming back or staying, wherever I feel is the best fit for me and my family is where I am going to go. Whenever I make that decision, I’m going to be 100% proud.”

Michigan State leads in the 247Sports CrystalBall with 36%, but DePaul has been the popular school of late, picking up the last five votes.

Bowen has taken multiple unofficials to DePaul and with the hiring of Shane Heirman, Bowen’s coach at La Lumiere (IN), recent speculation seems to be Bowen may follow.
