Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, Michigan and Oregon are the final five remaining for 2018 R.J. Barrett. The ultra talented wing completed his first, of his five official visits, to Kentucky over Labor Day weekend.

“It was good,” Barrett told Rivals Eric Bossi of the visit. “I got to learn more about the school and how they operate. I got to meet with coach (John) Calipari and coaching staff and really get to know them better so that was great.”

Barrett is expected to officially visit Duke the weekend of Sept. 15-17, Arizona is next Sept. 21-23, Oregon will follow Sept. 23-25 and he will finish at Michigan beginning Sept. 29 and ending Oct. 1.

“I’m really focusing on this process and getting my visits in right now because I don’t want to prolong anything because I know the teams, coaches and their style of play,” Barrett said in his player blog. “That’s why I’ve got the visits back-to-back like this because I want to have a decision by November. I plan on signing during the Early Signing Period.”

Calipari didn’t lay out a specific plan on how he would use Barrett for his expected one season at Kentucky.

“Coach Cal told me he can’t give me an exact pitch for how I would play just yet because he doesn’t really know what his team is going to look like,” said Barrett. “He just knows that I am a fit anywhere and that they can help me get better.”

Barrett — the five-star prospect out of Montverde Academy in Florida — lit up the John Calipari coached USA U19 team earlier this summer at the FIBA World Cup, scoring 38 points and shocking the US team in the semifinals.

“That was one of the first things that came up,” said Barrett. “He said I gave him 40 and now he wants me on his team to do the same thing.”

Barrett is the No. 1 player in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, taking over the top spot after five-star Marvin Bagley decided to reclass into 2017 and commit to Duke.
