2018 Point Guard Ayo Dosunmu Cuts to Seven

Ayo Dosunmu, a 6-foot-4 point guard out of Chicago (IL) Morgan Park High, announced his final seven schools via Twitter on Tuesday. Dosunmu will work with Illinois, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, USC, Wake Forest and Xavier moving forward. Creighton, Memphis, NC State and UConn were cut from his previous list.

Dosunmu officially visited Southern California the weekend of September 15-17. The four-star recently talked with Scout about the Trojans.

“They have a lot of real good pieces back,” Dosunmu said. “Their point guard is leaving, so I think it’ll be a good fit for me. Coach [Andy] Enfield, that’s what he said to me and I think we would be able to compete for a national championship.”

Dosunmu’s next visit will be to Wake Forest the weekend of September 29-October 1.

“Coach Manning, him knowing the game and being in the NBA and having a ton of resources,” Dosunmu said when asked about the Demon Deacons. “They have a lot of pieces. I think it’d be a good fit for me to come in right away, play good minutes and I think he can get me to the next level.”

Two weeks later Dosunmu will take the two hour trip south to Champaign for his official visit to the University of Illinois. The Fighting Illini are the current favorites on the 247Sports industry-generated CrystalBall, owning 100% of all nine votes. Illinois, along with Wake Forest, have recently conducted in-homes with the rising point guard.

When it comes to a decision timeframe, Dosunmu says it all depends on feel.

“I honestly don’t know yet,” he said when asked about his timetable. “I told myself when I know where I want to go there’s no need to wait and I’ll go ahead and commit.”
