Arkansas Lands Four-Star Forward Reggie Chaney

Reggie Chaney

Reggie Chaney, a 6-foot-7 power forward from Findlay (NV) Prep has announced his commitment to Arkansas via Twitter.

“First off I would like to thank God, my family, coach Paul [Washington], and the Findlay Prep coaching staff for helping me through this long process. It felt like a home away from home,” Chaney released in a statement. “With that being said I’m extremely blessed and excited to say that I have officially committed to the University of Arkansas.”

According to 247Sports Chaney is the No. 89 overall player for the Class of 2018 and the No. 24 power forward. Chaney took official visits to Arkansas (Sept. 15th), Texas A&M (Sept. 29th), Wichita State (Oct. 13th), and TCU (Oct. 20th).

Chaney spoke to us at D1VISION back in September about his Arkansas visit on September 15th. “The coaching staff and team are full of good caring people,” said Chaney. “The fans show so much love.”

With former Arkansas big man Bobby Portis landing in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft, the Razorbacks seem to see many similarities between Chaney and the Chicago Bulls forward.

“They compared me to Bobby Portis, wanting me to be a versatile forward for them,” said Chaney. “They expect me to score and rebound.”

Like Portis, who was Second-team All-SEC during his freshman season, while also being named to the SEC All-Freshman team, Arkansas expects Chaney to have a big role if he were to choose the Razorbacks, as he said, “They want me to come in and make an impact off the bat.”

Chaney joins four-star power forward Ethan Henderson, four-star point guard Keyshawn Embery, three-star shooting guard Isaiah Joe, three-star shooting guard Jordan Phillips, and three-star point guard Desi Sills for Arkansas’ 2018 recruiting class.
