Antoine Davis — the 6-foot-1 rising 2018 point guard formally out of SATCH Homeschool in Texas — has committed to Houston and head coach Kelvin Sampson, per his Twitter account. Davis chose Houston over Texas A&M, Nevada, UMass, and UTEP, among others.

Davis moved from the adidas circuit to the Nike EYBL Summer Circuit this year where he played with Houston Hoops. During his 22 games, Davis averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 steals per outing.

“I feel like I’ve played really good,” Davis told Endless Motor. “Especially it being my first year on the circuit. The EYBL circuit is completely different from the Adidas circuit I played on last year.”

On why Davis made the decision to pull the trigger for Houston.

“I feel like it’s the best place for me,” Davis emphasized via text. “I talked to my dad and he was telling me that it would be a no brainer for me to go there. And another reason is cause of coach (Kelvin) Sampson. He’s a great coach.”

Davis is in the process of determining where he will attend high school for his senior season. Formally he attended SATCH HomeSchool but told D1Vision that is up in the air for the coming school year.

Davis is the first commit for Houston from the class of 2018. The Cougars recently missed out on in-state players Miller Kopp and Morris Udeze when they cut their lists to six and ten, respectively.
