Harry Giles — the heralded freshman forward from Duke University — announced he will enter the 2017 NBA Draft, per a release from the school.

“With his uplifting personality and love for the game, Harry Giles has been a joy to coach,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “He is only beginning to scratch the surface of how good he can be on the basketball court. Harry has an exciting NBA future ahead of him and we are here to fully support him as a member of our brotherhood.”

Giles missed the first 11 games of the season due to a knee injury, limiting the five-star freshman to 26 total outings where he averaged 3.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in only 11.5 minutes per. Despite limited minutes, the multi-talented forward is projected as the 24th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Mock Draft by DraftExpress.

At 6’11” and 222 lbs, Giles sports a 7’3″ wingspan and a 9’1.0″ standing reach, rated as ‘terrific’ size by DraftExpress. The power forward said his time at Duke was a “dream come true.”

“Playing in the NBA has been my goal for as long as I can remember, and I’m so excited to take the next step in that journey,” Giles said. “My time at Duke has been a dream come true. I’ve built so many strong relationships here and I have so many people to thank, from my teammates and coaches to our medical staff and strength coach. I can’t understate how proud I am to be part of the Duke Basketball program forever.”

Duke currently has 19 players in the NBA with the latest joining last year as Jayson Tatum went to the Los Angeles Lakers with the 4th overall pick. The DraftExpress 2017 Mock Draft projects four more to being selected in the 2017 draft, Jayson Tatum, Harry Giles, Luke Kennard and Grayson Allen, two freshmen, a sophomore and a junior.

Duke is also slated to lose three seniors in Amile JeffersonNick Pagliuca, and Matt Jones. Despite the mass exodus, Duke is currently the number five 2017 recruiting class, securing the services of Wendell Carter., Gary Trent Jr., and Alex O’Connell and is still actively pursuing the likes of Trevon Duval, Mohamed Bamba, and Kevin Knox, filling what could be a bare cupboard.
