2019 Marcedus Leech Plans Kentucky Visit; Talks Recruiting

Marcedus Leech Plans MSHTV

Marcedus Leech, the 6-foot-6 combo guard from Poplar Bluff (MO) High School, told D1Vision Friday that he has planned an unofficial visit to Kentucky for July 2.

“I haven’t been offered by Kentucky but they’ve shown a lot of interest and hopefully I’ll get that offer,” said Leech. “That’s been my dream since I was a kid. If I get that offer, they’ll be on the top of my list.”

Leech currently holds offers from Kansas, Iowa State, Miami, Missouri, New Mexico State, Saint Louis, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Washington, Wichita State, among others. In addition to Kentucky, he also received calls from Missouri State and Western Kentucky on Thursday. He took an unofficial visit to Kansas in June of last year (June 7).

“I like everything,” said Leech on Kentucky. “I like how they play, how they get up and down. I like Coach Calipari. He does a lot with his guys and I’m looking forward to my visit there.”

Leech is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 21 player in the Class of 2019. Entering his junior year this fall, he is taking his recruitment slowly. “I feel like I’ll make my decision at the end of my senior year,” said Leech. “I won’t make it early because I want to wait and see.”

Although he is far from a decision, Leech has a clear idea of what he’s looking for in a school. “I’m looking for a great academic school as well as basketball,” he said. “A lot of people just go for the basketball schools but I like to be a high academic guy as well as on the court.”
