2019 Top 10 Christian Brown Stops By for an Interview

Christian Brown, a 6-foot-7 versatile wing from Lower Richland (SC) High School was recently ranked No. 10 by Scout for the class of 2019.

Basketball runs in the genes when it comes to Brown. His mother, Melody Davis, won two girls Class 2A state championships for her basketball team at Columbia (SC) High School. Davis was a starter in the North vs South High School All-Star game in 1995.  She went on to play college basketball at Brevard, a division three school in Brevard, North Carolina. Brown’s aunt, April Davis, also was a basketball star at A.C. Flora (SC) High School.

Brown attended A.C. Flora (SC) High his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to Lower Richland (SC) High where he has just begun his junior year. Brown was able to attend A.C. Flora due to open enrollment. His mother also told us that Brown was apart of the IB (International Baccalaureate) program, which is a step above honors classes. This is one of the main reasons his mother wanted to keep him there.

The family has always been zoned for Lower Richland and have decided to make the switch. Brown told us he is still in all honors classes, as he is an academically inclined young man. This is one of the reasons why a highly touted academic institute like Stanford offered this past Wednesday (9/20). His mother also told us that they will not overlook Ivy League schools throughout the recruiting process.

Lower Richland has a history of producing basketball talent with former NBA guys like Stanley Roberts (class of ’89) and Jo Jo English (class of ’88). Former Clemson standout Ed Scott (class of ’99) attended Lower Richland as well.

Brown looks to continue a rich basketball tradition that in the 80’s won three state championships (1983-1984, 1987-1988, and 1988-1989). Lower Richland looks to repeat as they won the 4A state championship last season (2016-2017) behind Clemson signee Clyde Trapp.

Brown has close to 30 division one scholarship offers at the moment. He told us he is ready for this upcoming basketball season to continue to prove himself to the nation.

Brown averaged 16.3 points per game and 7.1 rebounds a game as a sophomore last season at A.C. Flora.
