2018 Forward Riley Abercrombie Commits to Boise State

Riley Abercrombie

Riley Abercrombie, a 6-foot-8 205lb forward from Clear Lake (TX) High School, has committed to Boise State.

On August 23rd, Abercrombie told D1Vision that his top 8 schools were Northern Iowa, Richmond, Tulane, Tulsa, Pepperdine, North Carolina-Greensboro, UTEP, and Boise State.

Abercrombie has traveled a long road to be able to commit to the Broncos, moving from Wollongong, Australia a little over two years ago to attend Clear Lake (TX) High School.

Abercrombie told D1Vision why he choise Boise State.

“I chose Boise State because it fits me perfectly,” Abercrombie said. “I fit well with all of the guys there and they way play.”

“I believe in Coach Rice’s ability to win a lot of games and be a major force in the Mountain West,” Abercrombie continued. “The opportunity to be coached by Coach Beckner will be huge for my player development. Overall I just got a feeling there that I didnt get anywhere else. It was just meant to be.”

The Broncos finished 20-12 last season. They finished Mountain West conference okay at 12-6, good enough for third place in the regular season. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament to San Diego State. Their season ended with a loss in the second round of the NIT to Illinois.

Abercrombie looks to be a versatile piece for Coach Rice and his staff that could help get the Broncos back to the NCAA tournament. Their last appearance in the big dance was 2015.

It will be interesting to see if Rice plays Abercrombie more at the wing or as a stretch four.
