Apple Valley (MN) Apple Valley High five-star 2018 point guard Tre Jones announced his commitment to the Duke Blue Devils and head coach Mike Krzyzewski on Sunday before friends and family at the Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington. Jones will follow his older brother and current NBA point guard Tyus Jones to Durham.

Jones is the third Duke commitment from Apple Valley over the last few years, joining older brother Tyus as well as Duke freshman Gary Trent Jr. Trent transferred to Prolific Prep (CA) for his senior season before moving on to Duke for the coming year.

Duke was the long considered favorite from day one and ruled the 247Sports CrystalBall holding 100% of the total vote. Jones is the first commitment for Duke from the 2018 class.

Jones chose the Blue Devils over UCLA and Minnesota. Ohio State, Oregon and USC rounded out the final six schools on his list. His announcement came just hours after Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski  underwent knee surgery.

Playing with Howard Pulley on the Nike EYBL summer league Jones averaged 20.4 points, a EYBL best 7.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 21 games. Jones earned All-EYBL Peach Jam Second Team honors for his 23.0 point, 5.0 rebound and 4.7 assist averaged.
