2017 NBA Draft: What You Need to Know | Selection Order, Mock, Time, Green Room, Where to Watch

NBA DRAFT COMBINE

Tonight will mark the 71st NBA Draft with the first occurring in 1947 when Clifton McNeely became the first player to be drafted number one overall by the Pittsburgh Ironmen. McNeely never played professional basketball, choosing to coach high school basketball instead.

This is the first time in the Common Draft Era (since 1966) that the top four picks are exactly the same in back-to-back years, with the Philadelphia 76ers drafting first, the Los Angeles Lakers drafting second, the Boston Celtics drafting third, and the Phoenix Suns drafting fourth.

According to Wikipedia, Kentucky (2010, 2012, 2015) and Duke (1963, 1999, 2011) have the most number one picks with three each. Multiple teams have had two top picks. A list that includes Cincinnati, Duquesne, Georgetown, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Purdue, UCLA, UNLV, Utah and West Virginia.

If tonights draft goes as expected and Markelle Fultz is the top overall pick, he will be the first ever from the University of Washington.

The draft consists of two rounds with 30 picks in each round. Seven teams will not have a first round pick, a list that includes Cleveland, Golden State, Houston, New Orleans, Washington, L.A. Clippers and Memphis.

The top 10 projected picks of this years draft are all freshman. Most scouts have said for a while that the 2016 class is one of the strongest in years, not only in talent, but in the depth of talent within the class.

Below is the current draft order as well as the current mock draft for each team from DraftExpress.
